It’s Dementia Awareness Week!
Exercise has proven to help those with Dementia as well as prevent Dementia too!
We have put together some activities you can do with your residents who have dementia, these are also proven to prevent dementia too!
Parachute Waves: While holding the parachute tightly, participants move their arms up and down to make small and large waves.
Gardening: Watering the plants, pulling some weeds, sowing some seeds, or even just taking in the surroundings as you walk around the garden!
Seated Dance: Seated Dance a proven and fun way to help keep your Dementia residents active & entertained! Put on some music and do some seated dancing. If you need help with monthly dance and exercise routines and becoming an ActivCare coach, check out our Level 2 Bundle!
Tai Chi: Tai Chi is an amazing activity for Dementia, there are lots of easy beginner tutorials on YouTube to guide you through a session.
Walking Club: Start a walking club! Once a week gather the ‘Walking Club’ and take a walk around the local park or your local area. During walking club have a topic in mind that you could discuss with your residents whilst walking to make it more interesting.
